As of 7pm last night, the new and very much improved MattAllyn.com is now online. It took the better part of my spring break (after all, who needs vacations?), but it’s incredibly satisfying to see the final product up and running.
After designing the site in photoshop, I created the HTML and CSS web site. Then, to ensure my brother can easily update the site himself, I took those files and implemented a WordPress content management system.
I’ve never been much of a “tech” person. And despite the tedious and often frustrating task of coding a web site, I find myself oddly enjoying it. During some particularly engrossing coding sessions spent in front of the TV– and it pains me to admit this– I found myself ignoring Ice T and Richard Belzer on Law & Order. And that, my friends, is no easy feat.
I’m in the process of designing/coding my brother’s Web site, www.mattallyn.com. As a health journalist (and certified beer judge) he needs a professional site to showcase his writing. He wants a simple, clean, and straight-forward design with a fair amount of white space. I created a temporary WordPress theme that’s online now. Stay tuned for updates!
Here’s a photoshop mockup of what I hope to create. Click the photo to enlarge.
Hello world,
This site was, as many of you know, up and running just a few days ago. However, now I’ve converted it into a Wordpress theme, making it much more user-friendly. Thanks for visiting, and check back often!
Katie
P.S. Special thanks to Prof. Ken Harper for teaching me how to make this. Rock on.
